Westport travelled to Gort for what proved to be an impressive display of skill, teamwork and growing confidence from this young squad. From the first whistle, Westport started with real intent, controlling possession and territory. Despite their strong start, they couldn’t quite break through a determined Gort defence. At the other end, Westport’s own defensive effort was outstanding, meeting every Gort attack with discipline and strength. With neither side able to break the deadlock, the teams went in 0–0 at half-time.

The second half saw Westport immediately lift the tempo. Their pressure paid off when Clara Kennedy burst through the defensive line after some excellent link play, touching down for the opening try. Momentum stayed with Westport, and midway through the half Clodagh O’Malley showed superb footwork, skipping around two defenders before racing over for her first try for the club.

Captain Claire Ryan sealed the win with Westport’s third try, capping off a commanding second-half performance. All three tries were confidently converted by Millie Mullaney, whose reliable right boot added crucial points to the scoreboard.
Westport finished deserved winners with a 21–0 victory. It was a fantastic effort from this talented young group, who continue to grow stronger every week.
